December 2008Eye openerElectric crowds, superb skating and perfect autumn weather made for an unforgettable 2008 Skate America in Everett, Wash. Many of the top skaters in the world took part in the opening event of the 2008 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which was held Oct. 23-26 at Comcast Arena at Everett. An all-time ticket sales record of 29,477 meant spectators filled the seats to watch the dynamic talents of World and Olympic champions and medalists, as well as all the 2008 U.S. titlists.
"We're thrilled that we were able to break the record," said Laura Lee, co-president of Production Sports, the event's local organizing committee. "We knew the fans would come out to support the event, but we never imagined we'd be able to break the record. It's amazing that Everett now holds this honor." Also featured in this issue ...
