April 2005

| Joshua Leggett |
Age: 9
Home club: Detroit SC
Skating level: pre-juvenile dance, pre-preliminary freestyle
Coaches: Jonathan Nichols and Jodie Balogh-Tasich
Favorite skater: Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto because of their great footwork, and Michael Weiss because of his cool and original skating moves.
How often I skate: I am on the ice six days a week, two sessions a day. I skate 10–11 hours per week. I also take ballet with my ice dancing partner and work with an off-ice trainer on core body, jump technique and strength training.
Favorite jumps/moves: The dance lifts are my favorite, and in freestyle I like the loop/loop.
Favorite skating moment: My favorite skating moment was competing with my partner, Laura Perry, at this year's Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships and winning the gold medal.
Goals: My goals are to compete with my partner at the 2006 Eastern Great Lakes Regional Championships at the juvenile level and, ultimately, to represent the United States at the Olympics in 2014.
What else you should know about me: I love to draw futuristic cartoon characters and fantasy characters such as dragons. My favorite subjects are science, math and reading. I have a 4-year-old cat named Patches.
