KID SPOTLIGHT
May 2006

| Amelia Yang Xu |
Age: 9
Home club: Cantiague FSC
Skating level: Passed intermediate moves, pre-juvenile free
Coaches: Barbara Deluca, Marina Esmin and Alex Esmin
How long I've skated: Five years
How often do you skate?: I skate every day and do off-ice training twice a week.
Favorite jumps/moves: I like doing the Axel and sit spin. I can jump high on my Axel. I feel like I'm flying. I can also spin fast, like a whirlwind, on my sit spin.
Favorite skating moment: My lesson with Tatiana Tarasova is definitely my favorite skating moment. I felt so happy during my lesson knowing that she has coached so many famous skaters. I loved when she signed my skates.
Favorite skater: Sasha Cohen (because she was so nice when I met her in California), Timothy Goebel, Rene Inoue and John Baldwin
Goals: To complete all moves tests when I am 9 and get first place at the 2006 regionals at the juvenile level.
What else you should know about me: I am a pianist who enjoys composing my own music. I love reading so much that I could probably read all day.
