| Stephanie Payne |
Age: 10
Home club: Washington FSC
Skating level: Preliminary
Coaches: Teresa Yuengert, Marina Khaltourina, Sheryl Haase
How often do you skate?: Six times a week
How I got started: I went to my brother's friend's ice skating birthday party when I was 5. I saw some girls doing jumps in the middle of the rink. I told my mom I wanted to be like them.
Favorite jumps/spins: Double Salchow, Biellmann and layback spins
Favorite skating moment: When I placed second at my first U.S. Figure Skating competition
Favorite skater: Michelle Kwan, because of her grace and love of the sport
Goals: To pass all my moves in the field and free skate tests, and to compete in a qualifying competition
What else you should know about me: I like animals and have a hamster named Ginger. I sing in a youth choir, and I like to make up my own songs and play them on the piano. I also skate on the National Blades synchronized skating team. I swim during the summer on my neighborhood swim team.
