How long he's been skating: Nine years -- With parents who met on the ice, Zachariah was on the ice early in life. But, it wasn't until he was 5 that he wanted to figure skate and developed his dream -- to go to the Olympics!
How often he skates: Daily under the direction of coaches Nikki Johnson and Beth Spencer.
Skating Honors: Many gold, some silver and bronze and one pewter in and out of state, and even one 'out of the country' competition.
Skating Goals: To finally be able to land a double Axel! He would love to do well in regionals this year.
What else you should know about him: Zachariah is a "Millennium Dreamer Ambassador" -- selected by both McDonald's and Walt Disney World as one of their 200 youth across the world helping other people voluntarily. He loves teaching youth and adults in fun and unique ways. He does demonstrations on figure skating for boys and girls in the area.
He has been on local television, in local newspapers and photographed regarding his unique style of using library and purchased books to support his coach's instruction. His old favorite is "Figure Skating with Carlo Fassi." He was also in the opening ceremonies for the 2000 U.S. Championships on his birthday.
He is on a jazz and tap performing dance team, as well as in a touring, performing choir. He downhill skis, plays piano and takes gymnastics and ballet. He is home-schooled -- by choice, not for the sport.
He is also a model and has appeared on Six Flags commercials, American Greeting cards, on linen merchandise and in newspapers. He is also Mr. Cuyahoga County Fair and Woolleybear King -- he loves the stage!
