Alexia Marie Parra

Club: Fort Wayne ISC

Favorite skater: Sarah Hughes – I love to watch her jump and spin. She is so beautiful and graceful on the ice.

Skating level: Low freestyle Basic Skills. I also take private lessons with Jennifer Seybold.

How often I skate: I skate on Tuesdays and Fridays for 1 1/2 hours plus practice ice when I'm able to go.

How long I've been skating: 8 months

Favorite moves: The waltz jump, the spiral and spinning. I can't wait to learn more jumps.

What I like about skating: It is fun and challenging. I love competing and learning new things.

Goals: To make the World Team and the Olympic Team

Favorite skating moment: When I skated in my first competition, the Springtime Spectacular, and won the bronze medal. I also enjoyed skating in the Fantasy on Ice Show sponsored by the Fort Wayne ISC and going to Wisconsin Fond Du Lac where I won two first-place medals. Best of all, I was one of the Chevy It's Great To Skate Festival winners and went to Strongsville, Ohio, where I got to meet and have a lesson with Todd Eldredge. I love to skate for people.

How I got started skating: My mother rented McMillen Ice Arena for my older sister's birthday party. I got on the ice and took to it like I had skated before. My mother couldn't get me off the ice. I loved it! She signed me up for lessons two days later.

What else you should know about me: I am a second grader at St. Jude's School this year. I have one older sister, Stephanie, and two younger brothers, Juanito and Alejandro. I live in a house out in the country and have a cat named Curious. I hope to be as great a skater as Sarah Hughes.
