Meet Synchro Panache Juvenile
Synchro Panache

Club/Level: FSC of Minneapolis (juvenile)

Coaches: Janet Hoitomt and Jerre LeTourneau

Team members: Liz Burke, Michelle Christy, Mari Earhart-Price, Kyle Gibbons, Madeline Goodell, Bridget Harguth, Laura Hellman, Kaitlyn Hoitomt, Harriet Jackson, Lily Meyer, Clayre Tenquist, Chloe Tinius, Tori Vogel and Hadley Young

Team rituals: Our good luck bear has been with the team since 1994. The bear gets fitted for a competition dress and wears our medals. Before we take the ice, we pass the bear and all kiss its head. We play “Ain't No Mountain High Enough” and eat sour gummy worms before we skate. Every year we have a motivational topic so our coaches can teach us about working together. This year we're using the dolphin as our motivation.

What makes Synchro Panache special? We go to different schools and because of synchro we are all good friends and have lots of fun together. We are special because our coaches and chaperones are the greatest, and they teach us how being on a team is more than skating. When we travel we help each other with homework and always get compliments on our behavior.

Team goals: We have had many skaters get too old to be on our “juvie” line, so we are trying hard to recruit new members. Our goal is to skate perfect programs at every competition, and we hope to go to the U.S. Synchronized Team Skating Championships soon.

What is the best part of being on a synchronized team? The best part is having friends, traveling (missing school), sharing ideas and competing as a team. Our coaches were in the Ice Follies so they know how to make us look pretty and train us for “showtime.”

What are some of your favorite memories? As we write this we're at our first competition of the season. It is so exciting to skate our program for the first time in competition, wear new outfits and win the gold medal. This exciting day will start our memory book for this year.

Attention, synchronized skaters!

If you'd like to see your synchronized team profiled in SKATING magazine, fill out the Synchronized Spotlight submission form below and send in a team picture to become the next team featured in Synchronized Spotlight! You can send in the form and photo by mail or e-mail them to skatingmagazine@usfsa.org.

Any team in the preliminary, youth introductory, teen introductory, juvenile, intermediate or novice divisions is eligibile. (Sorry higher level teams – this is for kids only!) Teams will be selected by SKATING magazine. We request that the questions are answered by the skaters — not moms, dads, big sisters, coaches or team managers. But please make sure to provide a contact phone number for a representative team member or coach.
