Meet The Snowflurries Preliminary
The Snowflurries

Club/Level: Warwick Figure Skaters (Preliminary)

Coaches: Erika Hoffman, Megan McCabe

Team members: Claudia Collins, Kayla Freeman, Alyssa Galbraith, Kelsey Leonard, Allison Lomas, Hanna McGuirl, Hayley McGuirl, Nicole Patton, Elizabeth Slade, Hannah Schram, Lillian Sogar, Giana Solitro, Megan Sugrue

Team rituals: We bring our mascot “Hector,” the stuffed pig, with us to competitions for good luck. We do off-ice [warm up], put our skates on together and talk. We remind each other to smile and do our best.

What makes The Snowflurries special? We all get along well and are good friends. We work together and laugh a lot. We always try our best. We usually have treats after practice. It is lots of fun!

Team goals: We want to improve since last year, to smile, have fun, snap our heads, skate with power and do the right steps! We hope to do well at competitions and win a medal.

What is the best part of being on a synchronized team? We get to travel together and spend time doing what we like with our friends. The competitions are fun, and we love our coaches.

What are some of your favorite memories? The day we found out we made the team was a big one! Flying to South Carolina, staying in hotels, all the competitions, team parties and breakfasts and our banquet are other favorites. We even like to practice.

What do you hope to do in the future? We all want to keep skating until we can be on a senior-level team like the Superettes. We'd like to earn medals at a lot of competitions. Some of us want to be really famous and to skate for Disney on Ice. Some of us want to coach or to skate on a college team.

Attention, synchronized skaters!

If you'd like to see your synchronized team profiled in SKATING magazine, fill out the Synchronized Spotlight submission form below and send in a team picture to become the next team featured in Synchronized Spotlight! You can send in the form and photo by mail or e-mail them to skatingmagazine@usfsa.org.

Any team in the preliminary, youth introductory, teen introductory, juvenile, intermediate or novice divisions is eligibile. (Sorry higher level teams – this is for kids only!) Teams will be selected by SKATING magazine. We request that the questions are answered by the skaters — not moms, dads, big sisters, coaches or team managers. But please make sure to provide a contact phone number for a representative team member or coach.
