Meet the Ice Angelzz
Ice Angelzz

Club/Level: Cottonwood Heights FSC (Juvenile)

Coaches: Erika Roberts, Tiffany Kennard, Melissa Palmer, Margaret Baldwin

Team members: Kelsey Barnes, Jessica Barson, Ashli Dodd, BreAnn Duckett, Caitlin Ellis, Margaret Johnson, Sandra Kushnir, Allison Lee, Emily McNary, Britta Olsen, Erin Orchard, Nicole Privett, Jamie Reynolds, Holly Smith, Callie Thackeray, Emily Wells

Team rituals: Our coach gives us “warm fuzzies” when we have a good practice. We have a lot of team cheers that we do at practice and competitions. When we are getting ready to go onto the ice we do “give and take” hand slaps. We all collect angel things and trade angel gifts with each other. One of the moms usually sprinkles us with sparkly “angel dust” before competitions. We like to do our “Ain't No Mountain High Enough” dance in the locker room.

What makes the Ice Angelzz special? We are the only synchronized skating team in Utah. Our team started its own Girl Scout troop last year. We are all individuals but we work well together and are all good friends. We have the BEST coaches who help us!

Team goals: We are excited to go to our first national competition this year. Most of us have skated together on the team for four years, and it would be fun if we could stay together until we got to be a senior-level team. We want to work on our speed and presentation.

What is the best part of being on a synchronized team? We like working together as a team with our friends. We really like being able to travel together and meet people from other teams.

What are some of your favorite memories? Our first competition was in Anaheim and we went to Disneyland. Most of us skated in the 2002 Olympic Winter Games ceremonies together, where we spent many hours together for practices and met many famous skaters!

Attention, synchronized skaters!

If you'd like to see your synchronized team profiled in SKATING magazine, fill out the Synchronized Spotlight submission form below and send in a team picture to become the next team featured in Synchronized Spotlight! You can send in the form and photo by mail or e-mail them to skatingmagazine@usfsa.org.

Any team in the preliminary, youth introductory, teen introductory, juvenile, intermediate or novice divisions is eligibile. (Sorry higher level teams – this is for kids only!) Teams will be selected by SKATING magazine. We request that the questions are answered by the skaters — not moms, dads, big sisters, coaches or team managers. But please make sure to provide a contact phone number for a representative team member or coach.
