| Granite City Rockettes |
Club/Level: St. Cloud FSC (Teen Introductory)
Coaches: Dina Kortuem and Lori Stuart
Team members: Maia Bentz, Stephanie Blonigen, Rachel Brehmer, Alison Broadwell, Nikki Martin, Baylee Mehr, Sam Parker, Angela Phillips, Jana Prow, Katelyn Prow, Mia Przyborowski, Maura Sullivan
Team rituals: Before we go out on the ice to compete, we chant our team motto, “Good, better, best, never let it rest until your good is your better and your better's your best!” We also pass around our team bear that we built together as a team.
What makes the Granite City Rockettes special? Our team is special because we have a great range of ages. The ages range from 12 years old to 18. Another reason is because the girls that we have now are girls who have been part of synchronized skating since they first started skating.
Team goals: We have many goals for the season. We would like to make the final round at the Midwestern Synchronized Team Skating Sectional Championships. Our main goal is to go out there and do the best we are capable of regardless of the end result.
What is the best part of being on a synchronized team? Being a part of a synchronized skating team you get to meet other people you probably wouldn't have ever known, and you become good friends with each and every one of them. Also, throughout the year you gather at team members' houses, have parties and hang out.
What are some of your favorite memories? Some of our favorite memories are when we get together at our team building party and play games, and do different activities with each other dealing with trust.
Attention, synchronized skaters!
If you'd like to see your synchronized team profiled in SKATING magazine, fill out the Synchronized Spotlight submission form below and send in a team picture to become the next team featured in Synchronized Spotlight! You can send in the form and photo by mail or e-mail them to skatingmagazine@usfsa.org.
Any team in the preliminary, youth introductory, teen introductory, juvenile, intermediate or novice divisions is eligibile. (Sorry higher level teams – this is for kids only!) Teams will be selected by SKATING magazine. We request that the questions are answered by the skaters — not moms, dads, big sisters, coaches or team managers. But please make sure to provide a contact phone number for a representative team member or coach.
