| The ICE'Kateers |
Club/Level: Glacier Falls FSC (Teen Introductory)
Coach: Kathi Pargee and John Saitta
Team members: Christina Duong, Michelle Duong, Rebekah Echeverria, Jacquelynn Espey, Emily Henson, Stephanie Henson, Carissa Kuiphof, Christine Parker, Cristy Plahy, Kristin Rutledge, Lacey Wheeldon and Annaleight Yahata
Team rituals: We have a “13th” non-skating member ... ICE ‘KaBear. ICE ‘KaBear travels with us to competitions and wears a matching competition dress. Right before we step onto the ice our coach runs up and down our line while everyone gives ICE ‘KaBear a big hug, kiss or just a rub on the head.
What makes the ICE'Kateers special? Many of us have been skating on the same team for four years, so we have a special connection.
What is the best part of being on a synchronized team? The friends we make! We love coming to practice to skate with friends and hang out together. We have learned many valuable lessons through our team skating.
What are some of your favorite memories? At the beginning of the year we had a team activity at an amusement park with a sleepover at a local hotel. We did a scavenger hunt through the local shops and went swimming in the hotel pool. We had a great time together! But our best skating memory is our trip to Michigan and skating our best at Mid-America.
Attention, synchronized skaters!
If you'd like to see your synchronized team profiled in SKATING magazine, fill out the Synchronized Spotlight submission form below and send in a team picture to become the next team featured in Synchronized Spotlight! You can send in the form and photo by mail or e-mail them to skatingmagazine@usfigureskating.org.
Any team in the preliminary, youth introductory, teen introductory, juvenile, intermediate or novice divisions is eligibile. (Sorry higher level teams – this is for kids only!) Teams will be selected by SKATING magazine. We request that the questions are answered by the skaters — not moms, dads, big sisters, coaches or team managers. But please make sure to provide a contact phone number for a representative team member or coach.
