Meet Seattlites
 |
| Seattlites |
Club/Level: Seattle Skating Club (Youth Introductory)
Coaches: Melani Young and former coach Jacque Williams
Team members: Jennica Bisbee, Teos Bisbee, Rohini Boddu, Lauren Buchanan, Julia Covello, Richelle Gamlam, Cara Lundborg, Danielle Narsing, Alyssa Thomas, Katarina Whitfield, Aimee Young.
Team rituals: This was our first year as a competitive synchronized team, so it's our first year to set any rituals. Definitely some of our greatest rituals are when we do our cheers and trade pins with other synchronized teams. We had a sleepover in November, which was really great, and we're looking forward to another one next season.
What makes the Seattlites special? Our team is special because we all have unique personalities, and when we put them together it equals a wonderful team. We're all friends and work together really well. Thanks to our coach and team manager, we've made lifelong friendships.
Team goals: Along with our coach we have our eyes on competing at sectionals for the first time next season. In order to do that, we intend to work hard this spring and summer learning new moves and routines. We also plan to create some new cheers.
What is the best part of being on a synchronized team? We really feel the best part of being a synchronized team member is that we always get to meet new friends. We also like testing our skating abilities and working together to earn placements at competitions.
What are some of your favorite memories? Again, with this being our first competitive season we didn't expect much other than to have a lot of fun and learn what synchronized skating is all about. Not only did we do that, but we won a team spirit award at our first competition (the Millennium Cup). We were also featured on "Evening Magazine," which is a local TV show. And of course, being chosen for the SKATING magazine Synchronized Spotlight! Way to go Seattlites.
Attention, synchronized skaters!
If you'd like to see your synchronized team profiled in SKATING magazine, fill out the Synchronized Spotlight submission form below and send in a team picture to become the next team featured in Synchronized Spotlight! You can send in the form and photo by mail or e-mail them to skatingmagazine@usfsa.org.
Any team in the preliminary, youth introductory, teen introductory, juvenile, intermediate or novice divisions is eligibile. (Sorry higher level teams – this is for kids only!) Teams will be selected by SKATING magazine. We request that the questions are answered by the skaters — not moms, dads, big sisters, coaches or team managers. But please make sure to provide a contact phone number for a representative team member or coach.
