Meet Fraser Eclipse
 |
| Fraser Eclipse |
Club/Level: Fraser FSC (Youth Introductory)
Coaches: Peggy MacDonald and Kerilee Rubrich
Team members: Dana Barkatt, Lindsay Holdway, Emilie Daubenspeck, Brianne Anderson, Amanda Rutkelis, Corinne Francisco, Alyssa Rubrich, Alyson Clemens, Andrea Heide, Megan Beck, Samantha Jennings, Katie Benedetti.
Team rituals: This was our first year as a team. We have different cheers that we say to other teams and our Eclipse teams to wish them good luck and say great job. We have pins to trade at different competitions, and when we give out our pins we always say good luck. At the end of our skating year we have a dinner or a sleepover.
What makes the Eclipse special? The Fraser youth team is special because we all love each other and can share our problems with each other and not feel bad. Our coaches encourage us to be a team and to put our problems away when we are on the ice. They say, “Skate great!”
Team goals: To make our lines straight, smile a lot and get along with each other, our coaches and other competitors. To never give up and to try, try, try until we get it. To do our best, enjoy the performance and SELL it to the audience and the judges. Have fun!
What is the best part of being on a synchronized team? We think the best part is to know you'll have a friend right next to you and to give whatever you do 100 percent. Also going to our competitions and seeing all of the different teams and costumes and to see how other teams skate.
What are some of your favorite memories? This year we placed second at Mid-America. Another favorite memory is our skating dinner and dancing all night. Not our proudest memory but we remember the power going out during a snow storm as we went onto the ice at one competition. All of our ice shows were cool, and we were out there for fun and doing our thing.
Attention, synchronized skaters!
If you'd like to see your synchronized team profiled in SKATING magazine, fill out the Synchronized Spotlight submission form below and send in a team picture to become the next team featured in Synchronized Spotlight! You can send in the form and photo by mail or e-mail them to skatingmagazine@usfsa.org.
Any team in the preliminary, youth introductory, teen introductory, juvenile, intermediate or novice divisions is eligibile. (Sorry higher level teams – this is for kids only!) Teams will be selected by SKATING magazine. We request that the questions are answered by the skaters — not moms, dads, big sisters, coaches or team managers. But please make sure to provide a contact phone number for a representative team member or coach.
