2006-07 Team Envelope Criteria
Team USA
The following criteria will be used to determine the members of the Team Envelopes for the 2006-07 season. Skaters qualifying in more than one envelope will always be placed in the higher envelope.
Team A - This envelope consists of the highest performing athletes in ISU Championships.
- Automatic for:
- U.S. senior champions
- Placement in top 12, World Figure Skating Championships
- Gold medalist, Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
- Medalists (top 3), senior Grand Prix Series Final
- Consideration for World senior medalists in the previous two seasons who have retained their eligible status and have committed to competing in the next competitve season within the past three years.
Team B - This envelope consists of high performing athletes in national or international competitions.
- Automatic for:
- Second and third place, Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
- Medalists (top 3), World Junior Figure Skating Championships
- Skaters placing 2-4 in senior events at the U.S. Championships
- Medalists (top 3), Junior Grand Prix Final
- Skaters who placed 4-6 in the senior Grand Prix Final
- U.S. junior champions
- Consideration for top 5* ladies and men and top 4* pairs and dance in the U.S. ranking system after Worlds.
*The ICMS will determine the number based on the strength of the events entered.
Team C - This envelope consists of athletes who have excelled primarily on the national level.
- Automatic for:
- Skaters who qualify for the Junior Grand Prix Final (non-medalists)
- Medalists (top 3) at ISU junior and senior international competitions
- Singles, pairs and dance: seniors places 5-7, junior places 2-5, novice places 1-3 at U.S. Championships
- Consideration for top 8* in the U.S. ranking system after Worlds
* The ICMS will determine the number based on the strength of the events entered. - Consideration for skaters placing lower at the U.S. Championships in senior, junior or novice where the event was very strong or results very close.
Reserve Team
- Automatic for:
- Medalists (top 3) at ISU novice international competitions, selected by the International Committee.
- Consideration for those in last year's envelopes not qualifying this year.
- Consideration for skaters not named above with high potential as evidenced by performance at regionals or sectionals.
- Consideration for pairs or dance teams, who are newly formed teams, based on the results of designated summer competitions and input from members of the International Committee and international/world judges. These skaters will be added to this envelope only if they are assigned an international competition.
*Consideration for singles skaters who compete at summer competitions with input from members of the International Committee and international/world judges. Thses skaters will be added to this envelope only if they are assigned an international competition.
*If they medal at any international competition supported by the International Committee, they will be moved to Team C and receive Team C funding.
Note: In the event an athlete is injured and is selected to compete in an international event, the athlete must be monitored prior to leaving for the event. The ICMS has the right to withdraw an athlete from comeptition if they feel they are not prepared and ready to compete.
