Ann Campbell
Mother of Roger CampbellAnn Bromloc Campbell, 55, was the only non-coaching parent who flew with her child to Prague. Campbell and her husband, Alexander, married in 1933. They waited nine years for a child. Roger Hunter Campbell was born in Portland, Ore. Campbell was a supportive skating mother and was visible at many Los Angeles-area rinks when Roger began skating in the mid-1950s. She regularly traveled with him to competitions; however, she had a premonition not to board Sabena Airlines Flight 548. During the North American Championships in Philadelphia, she called her husband in Los Angeles several times to discuss her concerns, and she called him again on Feb. 14 during the pre-board wait in the Sabena lounge. However, her desire to be with her son outweighed her fears, and they boarded the plane together.
