Athlete Development
The Athlete Development Department is responsible for all areas of full membership that athletes participate in once they have made the commitment to become figure skaters, excluding international or high performance programs for singles, pairs and dance. The goal of the department is to enhance athletes' experiences in the sport and help them to reach their potential for achievement in whichever avenue they choose to pursue.
Areas that are overseen by various staff members in this department include: Programs for competitive athletes at the regional and sectional levels, synchronized skating at all levels, nonqualifying competitions, collegiate skating, adult skating, Theatre On Ice, National Showcase, solo dance, high school programs and other areas of program development.
Senior Director, Athlete Development
The senior director of athlete development oversees all areas of figure skating offered to full members of U.S. Figure Skating until their acceptance onto the U.S. Figure Skating Team.
Figure Skating Programs Manager
The figure skating programs manager oversees the following programs:
- Adult skating
- Collegiate skating
- Program development
- National Showcase
- Solo dance
- Theatre On Ice
- Special Olympics/Therapeutic Skating
- Test track
Synchronized Skating Manager
The synchronized skating manager oversees the following:
- Program development for synchronized skating
- U.S. Synchronized Skating Team
- Synchronized competitions
Athlete Development Coordinator
- Assists with coordinating the logistics for athlete programs and coaches programs
- Assists in administrative areas, such as communication with clubs, teams, coaches and athletes
- Assists in the creation, distribution and communication of educational materials
- Coordinates the compliance of U.S. Figure Skating and PSA requirements for coaches at qualifying competitions
