(8/20/08) - At least 13 U.S. synchronized teams will compete in five different international competitions this season, traveling to Czech Republic, France, Italy, Hungary and China. The 17-time U.S. senior champion Haydenettes and reigning U.S. junior titleholder Chicago Jazz both will head to the French Cup in February.
The first international event for U.S. teams is the Prague Cup Jan. 30-Feb. 1 in Prague, Czech Republic. Miami University, the 2008 U.S. silver medalist, and Miami University Junior will both compete in Prague. Joining them will be the Colonials (junior), silver medalists at each of the last three U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. The following week, the Crystallettes (senior) and Lexettes (junior) will join the Haydenettes and the Jazz at the French Cup.
Heading to Milan, Italy, for the Spring Cup in February are California Gold (senior), Evolution (senior), Team Braemar (junior) and the Skyliners (junior).
Just prior to the 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, March 3-7 in Portland, Maine, Western Michigan University (senior) and the ICE'Kateers (junior) travel to Miskolc, Hungary, for the Jegvirag Cup. Miami University will send a team to compete in late February at the World University Games in Harbin, China.
