(9/11/12) - Nearly 130 figure skaters will descend on Salt Lake City Sept. 12-16, to compete in two events at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. The 2012 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic features top athletes from around the world, while the 2012 U.S. Challenge Skate is an invitational for American skaters who have competed nationally at the intermediate, novice and junior levels.

Celebrating its inaugural year, the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic is an International Skating Union (ISU) points-earning competition. Several athletes competing in Salt Lake City will also compete later this season in the Grand Prix Series, their country’s national championships, the Four Continents and European Championships, and the World Championships.

Icenetwork.com will broadcast live and on-demand video coverage of the International Figure Skating Classic and U.S. Challenge Skate to Season Pass subscribers. Results, news, photos, blogs and more will be available to all users.

Also in its inaugural year, the U.S. Challenge skate is for skaters to experience what an international competition is like. In addition to competing against other top skaters at their levels, athletes will have the opportunity to attend seminars, undergo media training and more.

Icenetwork.com will provide complete event coverage, including recaps, news and photos.

Day passes ($5) and all-event passes ($15) will be available at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex during the week of the event.

Sixteen athletes will represent the U.S. in the international event.

LADIES
Gracie Gold is the 2012 U.S. junior champion and World Junior silver medalist. She begins her first full senior season in Salt Lake after competing as a senior at the 2012 World Team Trophy in April. Agnes Zawadzki is the reigning U.S. bronze medalist and a two-time World Junior medalist. She begins her third senior international season. Both ladies are set to compete later this fall in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

MEN
Ross Miner is the two-time reigning U.S. bronze medalist. He closed the 2012 season with a third-place showing at the Four Continents Championships. He will also compete at 2012 Skate Canada and 2012 NHK Trophy later this fall. Armin Mahbanoozadeh placed just behind Miner at the 2012 U.S. Championships. Max Aaron is the 2011 U.S. junior champion. Rounding out the U.S. contingent is 2012 U.S. junior silver medalist Timothy Dolensky, who represented the U.S. at the 2012 World Junior Championships.

PAIRS
The newly formed team of Lindsay Davis and Mark Ladwig make their competitive debut in Salt Lake City. Ladwig is a five-time U.S. medalist and 2010 Olympian with former partner Amanda Evora. Tiffany Vise and Don Baldwin have competed together since 2010, while Felicia Zhang and Nathan Bartholomay begin their second season together.

ICE DANCING
All three American ice dancing teams will use the event in Salt Lake City as a warm up for the Grand Prix season. Lynn Kriengkrairut and Logan Giulietti-Schmitt placed fourth at the most recent U.S. Championships and have competed internationally since 2007. Madison Chock and Evan Bates, who teamed prior to last season, finished just behind Kriengkrairut and Giulietti-Schmitt at the U.S. Championships. Anastasia Cannuscio and Colin McManus, the 2011 U.S. junior bronze medalists, will make their Grand Prix debut at 2012 Hilton HHonors Skate America in mid-October.
