2013 International Synchronized Skating Season Continues This Week with Spring Cup

(2/7/13) - Three U.S. synchronized skating teams are set to compete this week at Spring Cup in Giovanni, Italy. The Skyliners (Monsey, N.Y.; Stamford, Conn.) will take the ice in the senior event, while the Lexettes (Lexington/Marlborough, Mass.) and Chicago Jazz (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) will compete in the junior event Feb. 8-10.

The Skyliners (senior) will compete internationally for the first time in Italy. They placed fifth last year at the 2012 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships.

The Lexettes are five-time reigning U.S. synchronized bronze medalists. They will open their 2013 international season as three-time international medalists, earning silver at 2012 Neuchatel Trophy and bronze at both 2011 Mozart Cup and 2010 Cup of Berlin. Last month, they won the World Junior Team Selection Event and will compete later this year at the 2013 World Junior Synchronized Championships.

Chicago Jazz, five-time U.S. junior synchronized champions (2001-'03, '06, '08), will make their 2013 international debut following a gold medal finish in the junior event at 2012 Neuchatel Trophy. They are two-time junior medalists at this event, earning silver in 2004 and gold in 2008.

All three teams are also set to compete at the 2013 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships Feb. 27-March 3 in Plymouth, Mich.
