Seven U.S. Athletes to Compete at 2013 Challenge Cup
(2/20/13) - Seven U.S. athletes will compete at 2013 Challenge Cup Feb. 21-24, in The Hague, Netherlands. Icenetwork.com will provide news, blogs and more from the event. Senior competition begins Thursday with the ladies short program and concludes Sunday with the pairs free skate.
Men’s
Alexander Johnson finished seventh at the 2013 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January. His only other senior international appearance came in 2009 when he competed at Finlandia Trophy. Brandon Mroz was originally scheduled to compete but withdrew earlier this week due to a left ankle sprain.
Pairs
A trio of pairs teams will make their international debuts in The Hague. Tarah Kayne and Daniel O’Shea finished seventh at the 2013 U.S. Championships, they will be joined by the respective eighth- and ninth-place finishers, Kiri Baga and Taylor Toth and DeeDee Leng and Timothy LeDuc.
