Castelli and Shnapir Place Ninth at 2014 Olympic Winter Games

(2/12/14) - Marissa Castell (Cranston, R.I.) and Simon Shnapir (Sudbury, Mass.) finished ninth in the pairs competition at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Earlier in the week, Castelli and Shnapir won Olympic bronze in the inaugural Figure Skating Team Event.

In their first Olympics appearance, Castelli and Shnapir set international personal best scores each of the four times they competed in Sochi. They finished the pairs event with a total score of 187.82 points.

Castelli and Shnapir are two-time reigning U.S. pairs champions. The duo has been skating together for eight years out of The Skating Club of Boston. They are coached by Bobby Martin and Carrie Wall.

They will next compete at the 2014 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, March 24-30, in Saitama, Japan.
