Sixty-five U.S. Skaters to Compete at 2014 Adult International Competition

(5/27/14) - Sixty-five U.S. skaters will compete May 25-31, in the 10th Annual International Adult Figure Skating Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany. Hosted by Deutsche Eislauf-Union and held at Eislaufzentrum Oberstdorf, the event features 432 skaters representing 28 countries. Athletes will compete in ladies, men's, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating. Last year, American skaters brought home 22 medals, including five gold.

The Paula Smart Trophy will be presented to the skater (male or female) whose artistic program earns the highest score. The award was created to honor Smart, who passed away in 2009, and developed this event in 2005 with Rhea Schwartz, Switzerland's Wolfgang Stummer and France's Barbara Standke. Both Smart and Schwartz are former chairs of U.S. Figure Skating's Adult Skating Committee.

Among this year's entries are six-time and reigning Pacific Coast adult sectional champion Natalie Shaby; 2014 U.S. Masters Intermediate 3 silver medalist Elizabeth McGlauflin; seven-time U.S. adult medalist Leslie Amacker, and three-time reigning U.S. adult pairs champions Kristi Norman and Glen Norman.
