Single-Session Tickets on Sale Today for 2014 Hilton HHonors Skate America

(8/8/14) - Single-session tickets for 2014 Hilton HHonors Skate America will go on sale at 10 a.m. CT, Friday, Aug. 8. Skate America, the first of six stops on the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, will take place Oct. 24-26 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Team USA will be headlined by 2014 Olympic Team Event bronze medalists Gracie Gold, Jeremy Abbott and Jason Brown.

Three American athletes have ties to the area, including Brown, a Highland Park, Ill., native and Gold, who formerly lived and trained in Springfield, Ill. Alexa Scimeca, who hails from Addison, Ill., and her partner Chris Knierim are the 2013 U.S. pairs silver medalists. Two Olympic ice dance teams Madison Chock and Evan Bates and bronze medalists Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani also will represent the United States.

Skate America will feature three days of competition in ladies, men's, pairs and ice dance. The field of competitors includes 56 world-class athletes, some of whom competed at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The international slate features 2014 Olympic pairs champions Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov of Russia and men's bronze medalist Denis Ten of Kazakhstan. Past Skate America titlists include five-time World champion and two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan and Olympic champions Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton, Evan Lysacek and Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

Other stops on the Grand Prix Series include Skate Canada International, Cup of China, Rostelecom Cup, Trophee Eric Bompard and NHK Trophy. Skaters earn points throughout the Grand Prix Series to qualify for the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final each December. The 2014 Grand Prix Final will be held Dec. 11-14, in Barcelona, Spain.

NBC will kick off its season-long coverage of the ISU Grand Prix Series with two hours live at Skate America from 4-6 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, Oct. 26. NBC will carry same-weekend coverage of the remaining Grand Prix events, while Universal Sports will broadcast live and delayed coverage throughout the Grand Prix season.
