2014-15 International Figure Skating Season Begins Thursday

(8/19/14) - The 2014 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (JGP) Series kicks off Aug. 20-23, in Courchevel, France. The event, being held at Forum 73120 Courchevel 1750, begins Thursday with the ladies and men's short programs.

Seven athletes will represent the United States at the event in ladies, men's and ice dance. Icenetwork will provide complete event coverage including recaps, photos and blogs.

LADIES
Amber Glenn, the 2014 U.S. junior champion, will compete in her second career Junior Grand Prix event. She was third a year ago in the Czech Republic.

MEN
Both Paolo Borromeo and Chase Belmontes will make their JGP debuts in France. Borromeo is the current U.S. novice titlist. Belmontes was fourth as a junior at the 2014 U.S. Championships and fourth in his international debut, Challenge Cup, last spring.

ICE DANCE
Chloe Rose Lewis and Logan Bye, who are the 2013 U.S. novice champions, will compete on the JGP circuit for the second season. Emily Day and Kevin Leahy begin their third season, and first international, together. They placed 10th at the junior level at the 2014 U.S. Championships.

Now in its 18th season, the JGP Series consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, Dec. 11-14, in Barcelona, Spain.
