qualifications
To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years of age by July 26 and a current member in good standing of U.S. Figure Skating. (Basic Skills membership does not fulfill the membership requirement.) You do NOT need to hold any judging appointments.

You may apply for a Singles/Pairs Test Judge Appointment, a Singles/Pairs Competition Judge Appointment or both. Prior to the seminar, a peer evaluation will be completed by the Judges Committee, and you must take and pass the online exam(s) for promotion for the highest level(s) you wish to test at the seminar. (Passing the exam(s) is not a guarantee of receiving an appointment/promotion.)

If you have no current appointments, you may choose to start at any of the singles/pairs test judge levels (bronze, silver or gold). If you are seeking promotion to a higher level, you would take the exam for the highest level you wish to achieve (i.e. if you are currently a bronze singles/pairs test judge and wish to be promoted to gold singles/pairs test judge, you would take the online exam for promotion to gold singles/pairs test judge).

Achieving the required score for a level does not guarantee appointment/promotion to that level. You must take the practical exam and show proficiency at each level to be approved for appointment/promotion. If you wish to test for both test and competition appointments, you must take both the test and competition promotional exams online and then, at the seminar, first take and pass the practical exam for a test judge appointment, and then take and pass the practical exam for a competition judge appointment*.

*One must already be a silver singles/pairs test judge or higher, or achieve a silver singles/pairs test judge or higher appointment at the seminar, to be eligible for a regional singles/pairs competition judge appointment. One must already be a gold singles/pairs test judge, or achieve a gold singles/pairs test judge appointment at the seminar, to be eligible for a sectional singles/pairs competition judge appointment.

The following are the scores required to test at each level:
Test Appointment:
If you take the online exam for promotion to gold singles/pairs test judge:
80% = qualification to test at the Gold Singles/Pairs Test Level at the seminar
75% = qualification to test at the Silver Singles/Pairs Test Level at the seminar
70% - qualification to test at the Bronze Singles/Pairs Test Level at the seminar

If you take the online exam for promotion to silver singles/pairs test judge:
80% = qualification to test at the Silver Singles/Pairs Test Level at the seminar
75% = qualification to test at the Bronze Singles/Pairs Test Level at the seminar

If you take the online exam for promotion to bronze singles/pairs test judge:
80% = qualification to test at the Bronze Singles/Pairs Test Level at the seminar

Competition Appointment:
If you take the online exam for promotion to sectional singles/pairs competition judge:
80% = qualification to test at the Sectional Singles/Pairs Competition Level at the seminar
75% = qualification to test at the Regional Singles/Pairs Competition Level at the seminar

If you take the online exam for promotion to regional singles/pairs competition judge:
80% = qualification to test at the Regional Singles/Pairs Competition Level at the seminar
