Ask Your Questions About the 12/4 Plan

For the first time in 42 years, U.S. Figure Skating is changing its qualifying competition map. The 2003 Governing Council voted to change the geography to 12 regions and 4 sections. Implementation is underway and will be completed in two years. The bids for the 2005-2006 qualifying competition season have been distributed under this new plan. The 2003 Governing Council also mandated the Strategic Planning Committee to present to the 2004 Governing Council a plan aligning governance with the new map. The governance plan will keep the voting size of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors the same while adding a fourth vice president to represent the new central section of the country. This plan has been approved by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. It will need a vote of two-thirds of the delegates to pass at the 2004 Governing Council.
