Tickets On Sale Friday for Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 7-10, 2007

Discounts Available For Groups, Military, Seniors & Kids; 4 For $40 Family Package

(11/16/06) - Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 17, for the 2007 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, which will take place Feb. 7-10, 2007, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Tickets to individual sessions range from $5-$40 throughout the event and will be available through the World Arena box office and TicketsWest.

The Four Continents Championships are the equivalent of the European Championships for the world's top figure skaters in North America, Asia, Australia and Africa. More than 100 athletes from 15 countries are expected to compete in the event. At the 2006 event the U.S. Team won six of the 12 available medals, as well as three golds: Olympic silver medalists Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto won the ice dancing competition, U.S. champions Rena Inoue & John Baldwin won the pairs competition and newcomer Katy Taylor won the ladies competition.

Numerous discounts are available for the World Arena event, including $2 off each ticket for any groups of 10 or more. Kids' Night on Wednesday, Feb. 7, will offer free admission for children 13 and under (walk up only). Family Night on Friday, Feb. 9, will feature the “4 for $40 Family Package,” offering families of four the ability to buy four silver-level tickets for $40, a savings of 50 percent -- $40 off. Four Continents is expected to make a significant economic impact on the city of Colorado Springs, with more than 2,000 hotel room nights, a delegation flying in of approximately 275 individuals and an expected event attendance of more than 15,000 people. In addition, media coverage of the event and the city expects to be plentiful, with broadcasts on ESPN and TV rights holders in Canada, Japan and China.

Twenty-one countries on four continents are eligible to send skaters to Four Continents. Most countries select their athletes following the completion of their national championships, many of which take place in January 2007. The U.S. Four Continents Team will be selected following the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Wash., Jan. 21-28. The final list of skaters will be posted at in late January.

The 2007 Four Continents Championships marks the second straight year the event will be held at the Colorado Springs World Arena. In the event's nine-year history, other host cities have included Beijing, China; Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; Osaka, Japan; Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; and Gangneung, Korea.

Colorado Springs has been the host to numerous international figure skating events throughout the history of the sport. The city hosted the ISU Grand Prix Final in December 2003. It has also been the backdrop to five World Championships, two World Junior Championships, three Skate Americas and six U.S. Championships.
