Two-Time Olympic Pairs Medalists Xue Shen & Hongbo Zhao Added to Lineup for Four Continents Figure Skating Championships

(2/1/2007) - Two-time Olympic pairs medalists Xue Shen & Hongbo Zhao of China have now been added to the all-star line up competing at next week's Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. Their participation in the Olympic-style competition adds even more star power to the event, which will also feature World champion Kimmie Meissner, Olympian Emily Hughes and Olympic ice dancing silver medalists Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto

Shen & Zhao won the Olympic bronze medal in 2002 and 2006. They've won two World Championships, and six medals at the event overall. They are the first team from China to win a World title. At the Four Continents Championships, they will go head to head with current World champions Qing Pang & Jian Tong, also of China; U.S. Olympians Rena Inoue & John Baldwin U.S. champions Brooke Castile & Ben Okolski and Canadian Olympians Valerie Marcoux & Craig Buntin, among other teams. The event takes place at the World Arena from Feb. 7-10, and it is the equivalent of the European Championships for the world's top figure skaters in North America, Asia, Australia and Africa. Approximately 90 athletes from 14 countries will compete, most having recently won their respective national championships. Athletes representing the United States at the event include Colorado Springs locals Ryan Bradley and Jeremy Abbott, both competing in the men's event.
