(5/4/07) - The 2007 Governing Council Annual Meeting kicked off Friday, May 4, in Reno, Nev., with a report on the media future of U.S. Figure Skating, including short presentations on the new NBC Sports television contract and icenetwork.com.

Major League Baseball Advanced Media Vice President of Editorial Dinn Mann provided a look at the future of icenetwork.com. Ice Network, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S. Figure Skating, has the exclusive rights to U.S. Figure Skating's interactive media properties and is a joint venture between U.S. Figure Skating and MLB Advanced Media.

Currently just a media player, version 2.0 of icenetwork.com will be unveiled in early fall of this year, with news, athlete bios, results, shopping, exclusive world skater rankings, mobile products, wallpaper, and much more. All news, athlete information and fan-oriented material currently on usfigureskating.org will move to icenetwork.com, with the organizational web site handling all member information.

Those interested in learning more can download the video presentation at www.icenetwork.com/presentation. This four-minute video gives background on MLB Advanced Media and a tour of the sites the company operates. Many of these features will be incorporated into icenetwork.com in the coming years.

Many Governing Council delegates arrived Thursday to attend numerous seminars and meetings at the Grand Sierra Resort. The business meeting did not start until 3:30 p.m. Friday in order to give delegates more time to discuss critical issues before the meeting was called to order. Sectional meetings Friday morning gave delegates a chance to ask questions and learn important facts about requests for action.

One of Friday's highlights is the second Athlete Alumni Dinner. The dinner serves as a fundraiser for the Athletes Advisory Committee, and this year's game show format promises to provide fun and great prizes for attendees. Saturday night's President Reception will honor 25 and 50-year officials and clubs.

U.S. Figure Skating Online will keep members updated with news and photos.
