June/July 2001, Vol 78, 6Sweden's Team Surprise captured gold for the second straight year at the World Synchronized Team Skating Championships, held April 4-7 in Helsinki, Finland. Amidst increasing difficulty and better technique, the Haydenettes held their own for the United States, finishing fifth behind four synchro powerhouses. Miami University, making its World Championship debut, finished ninth.  May 2001, Vol 78, 5Michelle Kwan won her fourth World title and defended her gold medal for the first time in her career.
