U.S. FIGURE SKATING
REPORT OF ACTION
taken by the
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
July 2, 2012

The Board of Directors took the following actions:

1. APPROVED to amend rules 4510-4570, adult singles free skate requirements from adult gold through adult masters junior-senior, to replace the spiral sequence with the new choreographic sequence, effective immediately.

2. APPROVED to amend rules 5510-5530, adult pairs free skate requirements, to replace the spiral sequence with the new choreographic sequence, effective immediately.

3. APPROVED to amend rule 1071 (C) to add a new deduction for singles and pairs of -1.0 for any part of a costume/decoration falling on the ice for levels judging using the IJS other than junior and senior, to remain consistent with the ISU, which just announced this deduction in ISU Communication 1741. (This deduction is automatically adopted for the junior and senior levels.)

4. APPROVED to amend rule 5220, novice pairs free skate requirements, to replace the spiral sequence with the new choreographic sequence, effective immediately.

5. APPROVED to amend rule 7280 (page 334, Rulebook), effective September 1, 2012, as follows:

7280 Collegiate Synchronized Well-Balanced Free Skate must contain the following ten nine elements in any order:

  • One block element
  • One circle step sequence element
  • One movement in isolation (one free skate move or one free skate element) One creative element
  • One Two intersection elements
  • must be different from each other
  • both of the intersections will be called + a pi level (if executed correctly)
  • One line element
  • One element selected from either a spin element or a moves in the field element
  • One no hold step sequence element (block configuration)
  • One block step sequence
  • One wheel element

6. APPROVED a provisional sanction for the 2013 U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships; Aug. 2-4, 2013; Green Bay, Wis.; Green Bay FSC.

7. APPROVED a provisional sanction for 2014 National Theater On Ice; June 26-28, 2014; Dearborn, Mich.; Dearborn FSC.
