Vice Presidents
"The vice presidents, in their order, shall perform the duties of the president in the president’s absence, inability or refusal to act. With respect to the section in which each resides when elected, the vice presidents shall be responsible for all matters relating to the advancement of figure skating in all its branches; the promotion of harmony among all of its members and member clubs; the solution of problems and the carrying out of the government and purposes of USFS in cooperation with the offices and committees thereof."
Duties and Responsibilities
- Voting member of the BOD
- Represent the Clubs and members within their section through frequent interaction and communication
- Reports to the Board on major activities within their respective sections, identifies trends in membership, club activities and challenges
- Attend all BOD meetings and conference calls
- Lead task forces or special committees as assigned by the President
- Support the transition to a successor when term is completed
- Communicate regularly with USFS clubs and regional council representatives in their respective section
- Hold a montly conference call (or more frequently as needed) with sectional club and/or council representatives to provide updates on relevant BOD matters and gather feedback
- Attend Regional and Sectional Championships of their respective section as available and subject to budget
- Receive input from Group Coordinators/Committee Chairs to be able to communicate major activities and issues within the organization to their respective section membership
- Provides input to the Nominating Committee on the selection of committee chairs

Qualifications:
Highly Recommended:- Substantial experience within the skating community (e.g. competitive skater, judge, accountant, club officer or parent)
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and an ability to work with a wide variety of members (skaters, parents, coaches, officials, etc.).
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Served as a delegate or attended USFS Governing Council for a minimum of 3 years
- Have served as a Committee Chair and/or Group Coordinator and/or USFS Board of Directors Member and/or has served on the board of a USFS member club.
- Demonstrated experience managing a complex organization (or financial function within a large organization) including budgeting and personnel
Estimated time commitment:
Substantial time commitment to position including attendance at all BOD meetings and conference calls and interaction with membership at a wide variety of events.
