2013 Governing Council
The 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council Presented by Hilton HHonors occurred May 3-5, 2013 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Colorado Springs-World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.
After a full day of events on Friday, which included a Board of Directors meeting, a Club Education Seminar and President's Reception, the Governing Council began on Saturday.
The proceedings at the 2013 Governing Council began shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and it opened with a grand entrance of Team USA members past and present. Led by Olympic champion Sarah Hughes, and with flags waiving in the main ballroom, the athletes paraded around the room with Hughes giving an opening speech.
Soon thereafter, Destination Sochi (www.destinationsochi.org) was given a royal introduction. The aspects of Destination Sochi, including a fundraising initiative and a club aspect, were told to the room to a warm reception.
Next, U.S. Figure Skating President Patricia St. Peter and Executive Director David Raith offered opening comments. St. Peter delivered a strong message supporting Team USA as well as Destination Sochi. Raith spoke at length on the new ISU icenetwork deal which will offer live coverage of every ISU event through 2018 as well as other new business.
The Governing Council took no actions pertaining to the U.S. Figure Skating bylaws.

For the first time, the AAC held a gala event and a sold out crowd, who received dinner and a show, all left with smiles on their faces. The Scott Hamilton emceed event featured a talented cast of performers including national and World medalists. AAC chair Lindsey Weber, Mark Ladwig, Justin Dillon and Karen Kwan-Oppegard all helped choreograph and appeared in the event. The performing cast can be found below:
