Athlete Selections Announced for 2017 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series

(5/26/17) – The International Skating Union (ISU) announced today athlete selections for the 2017 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which will begin Oct. 20-22 with Rostelecom Cup in Moscow. The series will then make stops in Canada, China, Japan and France before concluding with 2017 Skate America in Lake Placid, New York, Nov. 24-26. The field at Skate America will feature U.S. champions Karen Chen (ladies), Nathan Chen (men), Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier (pairs) and Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani (ice dance).

Now in its 23rd season, the Grand Prix Series incorporates six international figure skating competitions as a unified point-scoring series that awards prize money to eligible skaters. At the conclusion of the series, athletes’ points are totaled, and the top six ladies, men, pairs and ice dance teams are invited to compete at the 2017 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. The Grand Prix Final is scheduled for Dec. 7-10 in Nagoya, Japan.
