(8/21/19) - The International Skating Union (ISU) announced today the athlete selections for the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic, set for Sept. 17-22, 2019. The event will be held at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex in Salt Lake City and is the third stop of the 2019 ISU Challenger Series.

The event is headlined by 2019 World bronze medalist Vincent Zhou. Zhou is making his season debut after earning two ISU Championship medals last season. Also in the men’s competition, 2019 World Junior champion Tomoki Hiwatashi will kick off his season in Salt Lake City before making his Grand Prix Series debut this fall.

In pairs, 2019 U.S. champions Ashley Cain-Gribble and Timothy LeDuc return as the reigning International Classic champions.

Making their first-ever appearance at the event, 2019 Four Continents champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates head the ice dance competition for the U.S.

The ladies competition features 2019 World Junior bronze medalist Ting Cui and 2019 U.S. pewter medalist Hanna Harrell, who will be making her senior international debut.

In 2018, the United States captured 28 medals on the Challenger Series circuit (seven golds, 13 silvers, eight bronzes), including five medals at the 2018 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic.
