(10/1/19) - Eight athletes representing the United States will travel to Egna, Italy, this week on the seventh and final stop of the 2019 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (JGP) Series. Competition starts in Egna on Thursday, Oct. 3, with the rhythm dance and men’s short programs. The ladies short program and free dance will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, and the event will conclude with the men’s and ladies free skate on Saturday, Oct. 5.

In the ladies competition, lsabelle Inthisone will skate in her second JGP of the season after finishing 10th at JGP Latvia. She will be joined by Kate Wang who placed sixth at the JGP event in Russia.

In the men’s competition, Ilia Malinin looks to medal after finishing fourth in Lake Placid, New York, earlier this season. Joining Malinin, Matthew Nielsen will look to improve on his sixth-place finish at JGP France.

Two ice dance teams will take the ice in Italy. The brother-sister duo of Oona Brown and Gage Brown will skate in their second Junior Grand Prix of the season. The pair finished eighth in Russia earlier this season. Katarina DelCamp and Ian Somerville will take the ice after finishing 10th at JGP Croatia last week.

Entering its 23rd season, the JGP Series consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2019, Dec. 5-8 in Torino, Italy.
